Audience Feedback
1. Do you think the magazine appeals to the relevant audience?
2. Were you able to tell what the target group for our film was?
3. Are there are improvements that could be made to the film?
4. Would you recommend this short film to anyone else if it was ever released in cinemas?
5. Would you be able to relate to the issues raised in this film?
6. Does the film flow appropriately or does it look unrealistic?
7. What improvements should be made to the poster and why?
Anna, Olivia and Abigail
These girls felt that the magazine appealed to the audience because of the font style and the colours on the magazine as well and this made it easy for them to work out which target audience the magazine was aimed for. One improvement they suggested to the film would be to change the font for '2 months later' and try to relate it more to the magazine to show the depth and seriousness of the magazine and film. If these recommendations are followed through then they said that they would recommend the film to other people. All three of them said that they cannot personally relate to the film but they can empathise with the characters' situations and are aware of the storyline within the film. They said that they like the flow of the film and it looks realistic and it has a good storyline to go with it and they believe that the poster does also compliment the magazine and the film and no changes should be made.
Nisha, Sharonjit and Neelam
They believed that the magazine did appeal to its target audience of youths and one way they were able to tell who the target group was through the way that the actors were dressed in the magazine article. This group did not think that any changes should have been made to magazine article and by watching the contents of the film, they said that they would recommend our film to people if it was ever released in cinemas. These girls stated, however, they would not be able to relate to the issues raised in the film and could probably be because this genre of film does not include them in it. The film flowed well along that stated that they felt like they knew about what scene would be next and the intensity of that scene. When it came to the poster they said that we should leave it the way it is.
Nayib, Gurdeep and Isaac
These boys said that the magazine is relevant to the film because the setting and the lighting of the magazine links to the film which implies intensity, misery and intensity. They said that through this they were able to tell what genre the film was because of the typical stereotypes associated with the characters and the contents of the film. The sound in the film is something that could be improved as they said that is should be faded in rather than coming in unexpectedly. They would also recommend the film to people if it was ever released in cinemas because they themselves have sort of been able to relate to the contents of the film. Regardless of the minor changes they suggested they do think that the film flows appropriately and another change they suggested was to the poster and they feel that the change should be the font on the title of the poster.
Manisha, Carendeep and Aynsley
They thought that the magazine appealed to its relevant target audience and they were able to tell what the target group for all of the products are. They didn't think that any changes should be made to the film and it would be a film that they would be able to recommend to others if it was released in cinemas. They also felt that they wouldn't be able to personally relate to the issues raised in the film but that others could. They felt that the flow of the film was appropriate and was realistic and was something that relates to current issues in today's society. They also felt that no changes needed to be made to the poster.
Sonia, Qasim and Komal
They also believed that the magazine appealed to its relevant target audience and they were also able to identify the specific target group for the magazine review and the film. They felt that there were no changes that needed to be made to the film and it is something that they would recommend to the right people if it was released in cinemas. They couldn't personally relate to the contents of the film but they could see how others would be able to do so. They felt that the way the film was edited flowed really well and that when it came to the poster there was no changes that needed to be made.
All groups felt that our magazine related to the film and no changes needed to be made to it. A couple of changes were recommended for the poster and the film and if these changes are possible then they will be made and if it improves the current state of the work then these recommendations will be kept.

Poster Build Up
This is another update on the poster. The images are quite good but it has been really difficult to put them together with the text and because of this the current version of the poster does not look as good as it should have done. We ran out of time to try and make the poster better than it could have been and the thing we realised is that when the image and the text were separate they both looked really gooid but once they were put together it didn't look as good as we had visioned so that is also something that made it really difficult with the making of the poster. From the feedback we received from the audience, we decided that it was more than likely that we would keep this poster because they actually liked the design we came up with.
This next version of the poster has changed from the previous one because the first one had an image of Jason's silhouette rather than his actual picture on there and it is an improvement this time around because by having the actor's actual face on there is showing the audience that he is the main factor of the film and what the film is based on. This version of the poster is not so good because the image we have is not perfect for the idea we had but we are going to take more images and work around them as best as we can.
This first image is part of the idea that we had for the poster. The images that we have for the poster do not look as good as well had anticipated so we are looking to take more photos and see how they can be incorporated into the poster. The decision to do the poster landscape came because the Shank and Kidulthood posters that we looked at were both landscape. This first image represents the idea that we have for the title of the film. All of the text that is on this paper is the text that we would like to put on the poster but we have to make sure that we have the right photograph to place there and from there we should be able to work with the rest of it. It looks quite effective having the silhouette of Jason's character (Lewis) in the poster rather than the letter 'I' as it makes the audience really think about the seriousness of the storyline.

Musical influence on our project
These are the different songs that we would like to incorporate into our short film. The different lyrics in these songs all do serve some signifance to the contents of the film. We will fit all of these different songs in according to whatever scene they suit the most. Another reason that we chose these songs is because they are songs that we related to and thought they would also help to explain the contents of the film alongside the storyline.
Skepta - Hold On
Chase & Status ft. Tinie Tempah - (HITZ)
Dappy - Tarzan Freestyle
Maverick Sabre – Let Me Go
Professor Green ft Maverick Sabre - Jungle
Tinie Tempah - Obsession

Magazine Review Build Up
This is the final verrsion of the magazine review page. Looking back on the other designs this seems to look more appropriate than previously. This title looked a lot better than the one from before and this final piece is definitely something that we are happy with and have the intention of sticking with.
This magazine review has been changed again. I have removed the image and text in the top left corner of the page and have now replaced it with a paragraph of text and looking at its current state it suits the magazine better. The title is the only issue at the moment but once that has been worked out then it will be placed at the top of the page like before. The previous magazine review page looked good but after looking back on the magazine review we decided to choose another article to look at and its design looked easier to work with so we made the appropriate changes to it and once the title is in there then it will look a lot better than it currently does. The main image on the left has been cropped so that there is less head room than there was before as well as the image been brightened a bit which helps to make the image stand out so much more.
This, so far, is the completed version of the magazine review double page. We have tried to follow the conventions that Empire magazine uses and incorporate it in the best way possible. The images have been included and a title and it has been set out accordingly and has given the best possible outcome. Looking at this final version, you can see that the layout has completed changed to what was on there previously and the reason for this is because the image looked better when it was enlarged down the page rather than staying in the top corner of the page. The other small image looked better over the small textbox. The black and white fits with the concept of the film because it represents darkness, struggle and conflict so it was more appropriate.
In this one all of the text is complete with the only thing left to do insert two images. If any of the text needs to be re-positioned then it will be done. So far the work is looking quite good the only issue is the lack of photos so it does make it really difficult to finalise the work without any images.
More text has been added to the magazine review page to make up the article. Once the pictures have been taken then this will make it way easier to put align the text better. It is difficult getting the photographs but once they have been taken then it shouldn't be a problem to complete the rest of the work.
Looking at this version of the magazine review you can see that the relevant changes have been made to it. More text has been added to the page and on the left you can see that the text has been moved up to make more space for writing to go there and if it has to be changed again then these changes will be made.
On this version of the magazine double page spread, there have been changes made to where things are going to be. Looking back at the magazine review of Avatar from Empire magazine, the change in design seemed appropriate because even though the film is not the same genre as ours the layout of the magazine and the concepts it follows is what we can work with to help us. On this version we have also changed the Futura font to Times New Roman and the reason for this is because it was the font that was used in the Empire magazine so it looked better to change our text to match this as well. The different colours on this version of the magazine is just a guideline to help know where the text and the images are going to be placed. The title and the sub-heading have also been removed because they did not seem to fit in with the layout of the film and it also looked quite awkward where it was positioned. There is also a border around the magazine page to include the page numbers, possibly more colour and to make sure that everything fits around the page equally.
This is the newer version of the magazine review double page spread. With this version you can see that it has a title and a sub-heading. The sub-heading says: "Urban Youth - What you sayinnnng!!" and this reaches out to younger audiences because it is to give them the opportunity to express their thoughts and ideas of the film as well as the concepts that they gather from the film. On this version of the magazine review, page numbers have also been included in the bottom corners of the page and the reason for this is to make the magazine review look realistic. The fonts used in this version are: Futura and Transformer. Blue and grey have become the colours that are part of magazine review and so far these do seem to fit the work that has been done so far and if the colours need to be changed then these necessary changes will be made whenever it's best.
This is a further update from the previous mock-up on the magazine that has been made. More text has been added to the magazine review but once the images have been taken it will be much easier to put the text into the work because they will fit around the images more.
This is the starting point to the double page magazine review. This is just a rough idea of what content is going to be in the review but any necessary changes are going to made and updated on the blog.
